DAY 6: NORTHERN APOGEE

5/17/09

We began the day with a signing at the Joseph-Beth Booksellers store in Lyndhurst, Ohio. This regional chain continues to impress us with its beautiful stores, fine literary ambiance, and friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Next we drove westward through Ohio, swinging around the lower edge of Lake Erie, bombing along the interstate toward out next destination: an early evening signing in Okemos, Michigan, just east of Lansing. We made it in time and had another standout event at Schuler Books and Music, with a most enthusiastic crowd. This destination marks the northernmost point of our trip.

Today we decided to try something new. During each signing, we announced that anybody who was interested could wait around until the event was finished, at which time we would all assemble outside the bus for a group photo, to be taken just prior to our departure. The picture would subsequently be posted to this blog. As you can see from the accompanying photographs, we had more than a few takers!

Later we did a stock signing at a nearby Borders, where an unfortunate and regrettable incident occurred. See the accompanying photograph for details.
